After conducting sabbatical research in 2012 on four national initiatives on high potential children and adolescents in France, a second sabbatical in 2019 expanded research on giftedness, talent development, and creativity studies through travel to nine European countries. Onsite visits to universities, schools, creativity centers, and professional conferences yielded insight on common challenges, spotlighted national accomplishments, and broadened resource networks. Returning home after 90 days of amazing sabbatical travel throughout Europe just prior to the coronavirus outbreak seemed a narrow escape from indefinite lockdown. These thoughts from home celebrate moments abroad in Gifted Education experienced in real and virtual environments!

    Presenter(s): Tracy Ford Inman
A gifted child is a child first. Too much focus on the gift may lead to anxiety, alienation, underachievement, and more. So how can we provide balance? How can we address the needs of the whole child? The National Association for Gifted Children established a task force to answer those exact questions.
