Professor Mantak Yuen is Professor in the Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Director of the Laboratory and Programme for Creativity and Talent Development at the Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education, Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). A Fellow of the Hong Kong Psychological Society and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, he serves as Lead Editor of the Springer book series Advancing Inclusive and Special Education in the Asia Pacific. He has published over 160 journal articles, 36 book chapters, and 18 special issues and books. With more than 30 years’ experience spanning educational psychology, counselling, gifted education, talent development, special needs education, and life skills development, his professional service includes roles with the Asia-Pacific Federation on Giftedness as Committee Member (2016–2024), Vice-President (2022–2024), and Delegate, and as Delegate to the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (2015–present). His earlier posts include secondary school teacher, lecturer, and educational psychologist with the Education Department, HKSAR Government; Director of the Doctor of Education Programme at HKU (2015–2019); Coordinator of the MEd specialisms in Guidance and Counselling (2014–2024) and Gifted Education and Talent Development (2017–2025) at HKU; and Director of the Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education at HKU (2011–2013; 2015–2019). He has supervised 31 completed doctoral dissertations and received the Faculty Outstanding Research Student Supervisor Award and the Long Service Leadership Award from the Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education, Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong.
